The Old Print Barn — I am sure there are a few local visitors to my blog who know of the "Old Print Barn" in Meredith, NH. Perhaps even visitors from across the country and other countries, since this gallery is known internationally. I have been visiting the "Old Print Barn" since the early 1990s. In fact, I own several prints by New England artists of which I purchased from this gallery.

I now live closer to Meredith and recently checked in to see the latest exhibits that adorn the walls of this hidden gem in the woods of Meredith. Anyone that has visited the "Old Print Barn" has undoubtedly spoken with Sophia (owner) and knows of her passion for art and printmaking. Only after having a long conversation with Sophia on this recent visit did I realize her passion extends to New Hampshire history revealed through artists of the past centuries. I should have known. I too am interested in New Hampshire history through it's visual arts, photography and tourist ephemera. We spoke at length on this occasion, exchanging bits of New Hampshire history and expanding each others knowledge of the subject. Only after Sophia realized our mutual interest in New Hampshire history did she mention that her Husband, "Charles Stuart Lane", has published a book titled, "New Hampshire's First Tourists in the Lakes and Mountains" which is in it's third printing and soon to get picked up by major retailers such as Barnes and Noble and Borders. Of course I purchased a copy on the spot.
